Vancouver, the Pearl of the West Coast of Canada
Vancouver is the pearl of the west coast of Canada. This city is a good choice for making a city trip to one of the most beautiful places in this country or the start of making a tour through West Canada.

THE STANLEY PARK
The Stanley Park is probably the most beautiful park of Canada. This park of 405 hectares offers a great quantity of attractions; there is something for everyone.
The Indian Totem Poles are an interesting attraction and worthwhile to visit. Every Totem Pale represents a mythical story.
The park is surrounded for the greatest part with water and a lot of large trees like Red Cedar, Western Hemlock and Douglas Fir. Many trees have a height of more than 100 meter and are more than 100 years old.
A popular attraction is also the Vancouver aquarium with a high quantity of different fishes and underwater creatures. Don forget to catch one of the beautiful dolphin and sea otter shows.
Some other interesting attractions in this beautiful park are:
- the statue of "the Girl in a Wetsuit"
- the Rose garden
- the Rhododendron Garden
- Siwash rock
- Queen Victoria Memorial fountain
The Stanley Park is a nice place for walking and there are possibilities for swimming, jogging, tennis, golf and many other sports.
This place is one of the largest Chinatowns in North America and is located in the Pender Street. When you enter this center you will see a colorful Chinatown arch.
The main attractions of this cultural center are "the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Garden and Park.
The Dr Sun Yat Sen Garden, which found his origin in the Ming Dynasty, is small but an interesting place to visit because you will see something different from every corner of the garden. This garden is based on the harmony of rock, water, plants and architecture which are the basic elements for a real Chinese garden. The meaning of this Chinese tradition is a balance between heaven (Yang) and earth (Yin).
There is a variety of beautiful Chinese and local plants like bamboo, cypress, pine and many others. These plants give a special character on this garden.
A special attraction in the park is the central pond with a Chinese pavilion. The nature is really beautiful in this park with its green color and there are less buildings if you compare the park with the garden.
THE BUTCHART GARDENS
When you hang out in Victoria I recommend you to take the ferry to Victoria on Vancouvers Island. The Butchart gardens are one of the most beloved botanical gardens of Western Canada. You can call it "a must see" for everyone who loves flowers and plants.
The garden contains more than 700 different kinds of plants and flowers. It is a quit and nice place for walking and will impress every tourist. Making a tour through these gardens requires at least 3 or 4 hours.
When I visited this garden a few years ago I made some beautiful pictures of roses, azaleas and many tropical plants of flowers. Also the fountain was breathtaking and a good occasion for a beautiful picture.
You can reach the top of this mountain with the Gondola. Grouse Mountain is in winter a nice place for skiing but offers in summer some wonderful shows like "the Refuge for Endangered Wildlife", demonstrations of many birds and you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view from above the mountain.
QUEEN ELIZABETH PARK
This popular park is located on Little Mountain, almost 168 meters above sea level and the highest point in Vancouver. This park contains some beautiful public gardens and there are a lot of attractions for everyone. The Bloedel Floral Conservatory is the main attraction in this second most visited park of Vancouver. This park is popular for wedding ceremonies and an ideal place for wedding pictures for people who want to marry.

Very special for Vancouver are the trolleybuses which transport tourists to the main attractions in this beautiful city and the cities in their environment. It is really pleasant to make a tour with these trolleybuses.
